About Terry

Terry’s legal career has focused primarily upon insurance defense and coverage litigation.  Terry is experienced in a wide variety of liability cases, including construction litigation, professional liability, premises, products liability and automobile claims.  Terry has successfully argued many substantive and procedural motions, taken and defended numerous depositions, and has handled every aspect of pre-trial trial work.  He excels in the pre-trial courtroom practice.

Terry has also handled numerous complex insurance coverage matters and has provided pre-suit advice to both primary and excess carriers.  Terry has litigated issues in scope of coverage, additional insured coverage and priority of coverage among insurers.  Terry’s expertise is these matters has taken him to other jurisdictions to conduct depositions and investigations.  For example, in a hotly contested insurance coverage action venued in New York and controlled by California law—involving issues of whether the insured’s and its self insured retention administrator’s failure to notify the primary insurer of a wrongful death claim in North Carolina resulted in substantial prejudice to his client— Terry’s vigorous examination of the North Carolina defense attorney appointed by the insured’s third-party administrator as well as his examination of corporate representatives and investigation led to a favorable settlement for the client.
